I rarely share my personal photos on my blog but we just came back from a lovely vacation in the Isle of Palms, SC and I can’t help but share my favorite photos (mostly from the beach).
These photos were not taken with my trusty favorite go-to lenses (Nikon 70-20 and Sigma 35). I love those lenses and use them with my clients 99% of the time. But, I was in the mood to have a little fun, pull myself out of a creative rut and experiment a little. I decided that I was going to pack lenses that are a little quirky, a little fun and rarely used. I brought along my Tokina 16-28, Lensbaby Edge 80 and Lensbaby Velvet 56.
The photos below were taken with only those three lenses and will look far different than the work you’re used to seeing on my website. Feeling a bit nostalgic, I decided to process the majority of these photos in black and white. I was going for the look of those old vintage beach postcard photos from ages past of sun-loving surfers and boardwalk goers.
Here are my favorite photos from my family’s 2016 summer vacation.
