I first met this family eighteen months ago when I took their son’s newborn photos. What a beautiful baby he was! Since that first photo session, I have photographed them several times including milestone sessions at 3 and 6 months, a 1 year milestone and cakesmash session and now we’re back celebrating the coming arrival of baby boy #2 with a stunning maternity session on the shores of Lake Norman in Huntersville, NC.
I love shooting pregnancy photos in the water and was thrilled that mom chose this location for her maternity session. We started out with shots of the whole family in a nearby grassy field (you know I’m a sucker for a grassy field and pretty light). Although I love the tall grass for photos, I’m always a little cautious in the summer because of snakes. I walk through the area before having my clients sit down. Let’s be honest though, I was far more scared of the snakes than the three of them who (including little William) were way more adventurous than me!
After the family shots, mom changed into a maternity gown from Boutique by Agnes. The champagne colored gown complimented mom’s lovely fair complexion so perfectly. By this time, the descending sunlight was really stunning multiplying the radiant glow of pregnancy.
Normally, when shooting sessions in Lake Norman, I’m moving quickly to get all the shots in before the light wanes but on this day, we were ahead of schedule. We actually took a 15-minute break before getting in the water to allow the sun to descend and give us that perfect sky and water combination. I just love how these photographs came out, particularly the ones with mommy and little William. I hope that they’ll cherish these very special memories and I look forward to meeting baby brother later this week!
