This studio newborn twin session remains a favorite. Ashley was really looking forward to the glamour of a maternity session with the gowns, hair and makeup and the whole shebang. But, the twins arrived early (just a few days BEFORE her scheduled maternity session). So, we decided to do a glamorous postpartum session with the newborns and I think it turned out so lovely. Ashley was as gorgeous as can be. Can you believe that she had just had not one but TWO babies? Harper and Harley were so sweet. I love, love, love working with twins. The way they settle into each other as if it were home just fills my hearth with warmth.
What makes a twin newborn session so special to me? First, it is simply double the cuteness. I love to see the difference in their personalities. In this session, one twin was bigger than the other so that twin was always the base in poses. However, in twin sessions where weights are equal, I will always ask the parents which twin is the "chill" one...there is always a "chill" one....he he. That twin will be the foundation for the poses. Typically, when you place them together, they meld into each other relaxing together with each heartbeat. They've been squeezed together for 40 weeks and they have been each other's comfort for all of that time. It just makes sense that the touch of the other's skin, and smell of their breath would be calming and smoothing.
