I get lots of requests for mini sessions and typically do these twice per year. One session usually takes place in the spring and one in the fall. However, this year my spring was pretty packed full of newborns so my “Spring Mini” became a “Summer Mini”. Late June in Charlotte, NC is very hot and not everyone wants to do pictures outdoors this time of year (although when they do the beautiful light TOTALLY makes up for the balmy weather). So, I decided that I would offer a studio mini session.
When possible, I always prefer to use natural light over studio lights. To me, natural light is just a softer light. So, I set up the studio in my living room using the two large windows at the front of the house as my source of light. A simple black seamless paper served as the backdrop and I shot the session with my 35 and 85 mm lenses.
It was a busy morning. I had a total of nine children and one adult headshot. Most of the children were under three years old and they kept me on my toes. There were lots of dimples, curls, wiggles, pouts, devilish smiles, and big beautiful puppy dog eyes. The light was perfect and the kids were adorable. All in all, it was a success and I will probably do it again next summer.
Here are some of my favorites from my 2015 Summer Minis.

Iris - Oh, these are all fabulous, Carrie. I am sure the families will love them.
