I recently wrote a post describing my move to fine art maternity. You can read that blog post here. I have had a few wonderful friends model for me and this is the last of one of those portfolio sessions. As I moved my maternity work in a new direction, it was important for me to have examples to help future mommas-to-be envision how artful and soulful maternity photos could (or shall I dare to say “should”) be.
These beautiful ladies went to college together and were due about three weeks apart. How lucky was I that they were both excited about the opportunity to model from me and what gorgeous models they were.
We took these photos on a private Lake Norman beach whose owner has graciously given me permission to use his property upon request. The lake levels were a little low that day causing us to walk out a bit further from shore. I got a little booty workout squatting in knee-deep water to get the shots while waves rocked me around a little bit. I have to say that we were all a little nervous that my equipment was going to take a swim. However, in the end it all stayed dry and the photos were 100% worth the risk. Here are some of my favorites from this Charlotte area maternity session.
